Наприкінці життя Марі (вона померла 1956 року) в мистецтві вже панувала абстракція, й артистична публіка втратила цікавість до багатьох художників першої Паризької школи. Згідно із заповітом Марі поховали у білій сукні, з трояндою в руці й листами Аполлінера на грудях.
Сьогодні зі Сходу інтерес до Лорансен повернувся на Захід. Який символізм! Вигнана чи забута, Марі завжди повертається додому.
